Dear Family, Two things. Our dear friend John Voelkel suffered a stroke and is in intensive care in a Portland hospital. Prognosis unknown, but he and Nikki had been called to serve a mission in Brazil and were in a visa delay at home. You'll remember John as stemming from one of the old Pittsburgh families dating back to Sidney Rigdon. He was bishop of the 2nd ward while we were in 5th ward. Also, a time or two we sneaked presents onto their doorstep anonymously at Christmas time. Nikki hales from St. Anthony Idaho. They have lived in Lakeview Oregon since the economic downturn drove them from the Burgh in the early 80s. Please keep the Voelkels in your prayers - true salt-of-the-earth people.
